What it actually does
Yext is Yext, Inc. (NYSE: YEXT), 61 Ninth Avenue, New York. Still live. The 2026 homepage calls it an Enterprise Agentic Marketing Platform. The 10-K still says Answers Platform. Same company. They bought Hearsay in August 2024 (now Relate, for financial advisors) and Places Scout in February 2025 (now Scout, for AI-search visibility).
The product is a knowledge graph. You put hours, NAP, and attributes in once. Yext pushes them to 200-plus publishers (Google, Apple Maps, Bing, Yelp, Facebook, plus the long tail). Reviews is a real SKU: monitor, ask, and AI-draft replies on 80-plus sites. Pages are schema landing pages at franchise scale. Search is enterprise site search, not a shop chatbot. Relate is advisor SMS, not missed-call text-back. There is no AI receptionist. There is no Jobber, Housecall Pro, Dentrix, Mindbody, or Clio page.
PowerListings was the old self-serve one-location SKU. Official FAQ, live August 25, 2026: it is no longer a focus. Direct enterprise and resellers are. Sub-$50k ARR customers are 9 percent of ARR and shrinking 14 percent year over year. That is ARR, not list. They are walking away from one-shops on purpose.
Who should buy it
Buy it if you run tens to thousands of locations and your job is one source of truth. Great Clips at 4,400 salons is the proof point. Healthcare systems and QSR too. Implementation is a CSM and an annual invoice.
Do not buy it if you are a plumber, HVAC shop, salon, one-office dentist, or solo law firm. Moz Local is $20 a month for NAP and GBP. BrightLocal is $41 if you want a rank grid and citations you keep. Synup Solo is $49. NiceJob is $75 if you only needed Google asks. Yext’s own FAQ says smaller businesses are better served by reseller partners.
The reason not to buy is you are renting the hose. Current platform: Custom, demo only. yext.com/pricing is a 404. Billing is typically annual. Multi-year is the sales default. No free tier. No standard trial. Leftover PowerListings checkout is still live at /pl/powerlistings/plans.html: Emerging $199 a year, Essential $449, Complete $499, Premium $999, prepaid, 12 months, card auto-renew. SMB terms last updated May 15, 2017: no mid-term cancel, fees nonrefundable, perpetual content license, AAA, class waiver, New York law. BBB, live: cancelled August 14, 2025, still billed the next year. Another: cancelled July 31, charged $529.20 on October 3. Trustpilot live HTML was CloudFront 403; indexed about 1.5 from 344. Capterra, non-incentivized, March 19, 2025: billed after they promised they would not. Allan T., Capterra 2021, two two-year tests on lawyers and home services: citations updated, no Google rank lift.
If you cancel, Yext stops pushing. FAQ says they do not hold data hostage. Same FAQ says some publishers revert. Capterra 2019 still on the 2026 page: listings all go away. MapQuest BBB 2025: listed permanently closed unless you pay.
The verdict
Capterra, Software Advice, and GetApp 4.2 from 114 (same Gartner pool, live HTML August 20, 2026). Value 3.8. Mix is 50 percent marketing and advertising, not plumbers. G2 live HTML DataDome 403; indexed about 4.3 to 4.4, counts disagree from 472 to 1,100-plus. Trustpilot about 1.5 from 344 (indexed). TrustRadius 7.9 from 53 (indexed; live Cloudflare-blocked). BBB A+, customer reviews 1.0 from four, 11 complaints in three years (live). Reddit: none retrieved.
Official current-platform price August 25, 2026: Custom. Do not use Vendr or checkthat.ai ranges. PowerListings $199 to $999 a year is a leftover checkout, not the enterprise list. Directories that print those as 2026 Yext are stale on the product, even when the URL still works.
Skip. The product is real for a 200-clinic health system. It is the wrong buy for one truck. If you needed NAP, Moz Local. If you needed citations you keep, BrightLocal. If a reseller or Thryv partner puts you on Yext paper, you are not the customer they built this for.
